… Islam and life in Arab countries and in countries marked by Islam feature largely in public debates and media reports and have thus become the focus of attention for many people north of the Mediterranean. This is the focal point of our work: We organise and manage workshops, lectures, seminars and long-term projects designed to disseminate knowledge, to analyse current developments together with the participants, and to offer alternative insights into a region that is known to many only as a trouble spot.

… the aim of our work is to facilitate discussions and an exchange of views centring on the Mediterranean region and to bring them to public attention. This is why we bring international researchers, journalists, authors, artists and other interested people together at one table – and in front of an audience.

… our focus ranges from debates about topical issues in politics and society, book presentations, art exhibitions, film screenings and concerts to long-term projects and academic conferences.

… we realise ideas, facilitate contacts and organise mutual visits. In all this, our members draw on the experience they gained abroad, on the contacts they established there and on their language skills. Both national and international partners support us in realising and financing our projects.
