Kick it- International Women's Football Camp
Leipzig, 03.08. - 15.08.2009

Three years ago the adjustment of the football world championship in Germany tiggered a unique atmosphere of football euphoria. This year the European championship was held in Austria and Switzerland. The eurient e.V. wants to use this general football passion and make Leipzig the venua of the second international football camp, according to the motto: „The world to make friends“.
Target groups of the project are female junior football players, who profit up to now only little from the already established cultural activities. Our focus is directed especially on people from Arab countries and Europe in order to make up an exciting variety of participating countries. Therefore teams from Algeria, Jordan, Palestine, Norway, Germany and Bulgaria are invited.
Against the background of topical discourses about „Islam“ and „Gender“ we want to faciliate a „Dialogue of Cultures“ with the message: Girls don't play offside!
We see this as an opportunity for a unique chance of encounter on the basis of a common passion and that is the common dedication to football. Kick-it! has throughout been estimated positively, as a common sport can create trust in terms of „fair play“.
With the International Girls Football Camp „Kick it“ a project is originated, which envisages intercultural encounters beyond national and religious borders. Sport and especially football as a global phenomenon offers ideal conditions for this, because sport not only speaks all languages, but creates – in the full sense of the word – a leeway for the joy in common experience.
In recent years women's football gained increasing importance. Two times the German women's football team won the world, six times the European championship. Especially because of these successes women's footlball gets more attention in Germany. This is also testified by the increasing number of junior teams, which has doubled within two years.
Once again it will be shown that stereotyped blinkers and prejudices, which exist all over the Mediterranean region, can be challenged and revised. Here the participants of the camp, who take part in common training and ventures, on the one hand, and a wide audience, which is involved in the sporty-intercultural encounter by high-publicity events on the other hand, are adressed.
Another important detail consists in an intercultural training. Besides the sporty activities and the supporting program conflicts will be discussed, self- and external images will be clarified and intercultural competences will be trained by special trainers. We want to experience a week without sporty ambitions and pressure, a week that opens clearance for mutual understanding and that supports a lasting momentum for girl's and women's football in the particular countries.
You find the schedule here
... for about 30 young women to have a unique experience by an intercultural exchange and make friends across religious and cultural borders
... to steer the public's attention besides great events on other variants of football
... to support the developing women's football in arab and European countries
... to enrich Leipzig as founding city of the German Frootball Association with special facet
... to present Germany as organizer of the Women's Football World Championship in 2011 with an international project
Girl's teams from Algeria, Jordan, Palestine, Norway, Germany and Bulgaria will take part in the 12 days lasting camp. The selection of the team in Jordan disposes our cooperation partner Mona Al-Adham from the National Forum for Youth and Culture Organisation. In the other countries local partner organisations undertake this task. The idea is to pick up on the idea of the Barcelona-Process, which strives for an intensified communication and cooperation with the southern Mediterrainian countries.
The project is based on two components. On the one hand common training units are held rotationally by the respective trainers. That way mutual trust can be build up playfully and reserve can be overcome. On the other hand intercultural competence is going to be trained specifically to reduce prejudices and to sensitize to discrimination. Everyday experiences are going to be shared by common living and residing. Common activities like city trips, table football tournaments and canoe tours should help to create curiosity for other cultures and to make contacts and friendships, that remain beyond the stay.
Furthermore during a panel discussion the sportswomen is going to be given the possibility to publicly discuss the situation of women's football in their home countries.
The highlight, embedded in a woman's football day, will be the final tournament, organisated in cooperation with the antiracist fan initiative „Bunte Kurve“ of the FC Sachsen and the „Roter Stern Leipzig“.
Organisation, implementation and realisation will be undertaken by the eurient e.V.. It's interculturally experienced members are going to attend the camp. The common language during the camp will be English. For additional language problems the association provides interpreters.
The project is presented by different Public events. The panel discussion, screenings, as well as the Kicker tournament should also attract other visitors. Special attention will find the final tournament.
the reporting in local media and national specialist journals "Elf Freunde", a presentation on the Internet as well as participation in broadcast transmissions are planned. In addition, we want to use our contacts with media from the Arabian world which also report in the origin lands of the players about the camp. Besides, a large part of the project should be held on in parallel on video material. Besides, the participants should film themselves and place in scene. A Dokumentations DVD originating from it will hold on remaining impressions and experiences for participants and general public.
